The good thing about a small business like ours is that you will always get a real person on the email or phone! We design it, make it, fire it, upload it in the website, pack it ship it and hopefully get all those activities done in the right order and shipped to the right customer! And if not, we are able to correct our mistakes.

About Us

Prairie Dog Pottery is a small artisan  studio producing  handmade and hand painted pottery designed to make you smile! We work with a mid fire porcelain clay that is formed on the potter's wheel or hand built  into works of art that celebrate our four footed and two footed friends...and sometimes imaginary friends as well. We like color and laughter and good design.

Our online work is made to order.  We try to have pieces made and fired once so the shapes are ready to decorate with your chosen design. Sometimes we have work that is ready to ship - and will state that in the description.

Jack Good and Charlie Bogle at Prairie Dog Pottery

Lou Hanson
has been a full time potter since 'forever'! Her pottery can be found in collections the world over. She is the youngest of 6 children who grew up in the Illinois countryside eating organic vegetables and caring for a menagerie of animals.

Topmast's Kewanee is the head greeter in our studio and often likes to share the cat's beds.

Prairie Homes Miss Minnie Mae is not too sure about those "funny" tri color newfs on that totem!

Jack Good and Charlie Bogle help in the shipping department.
As you can see, they might currently be on a break.

Topmast's Money Penny answers the phone and emails when she has time.

Edmund Landseer Fitzgerald - is our newest staffer! He helps Charlie in shipping and me with the website.  So any mistakes are not my fault!

Our History

Prairie Dog Pottery was started in 1999. Our mission is to create great "stuff" for pet lovers. And remember, we are far better potters than webmasters - so be patient with us! Thanks.
